Summer Mission Trip 2010 in the books . . .
Day 1 of MT 2010 was a great success - 11 total kids in VBS and a good time was had by all! After an afternoon of washing windows in downtown Helen, S.W.A.T. presented the Gospel three times in the bandshell, doing our drama program at 7PM - 8PM - 9PM. We had very good attendance at all three, pushing 100 people total for the evening. Satan was on the prowl but our God is greater! Pictures to be posted soon.
Day 2, Tuesday, was a light day, ministry wise. We needed the break! VBS (23 kids today!) in the morning but the rest of the day and evening was free time. This is about our only free time all week. We shopped, played putt-putt, and went swimming in the pool an d/or tubing in the Hootch! Dinner in downtown Helen Tuesday night and back at full throttle Wednesday morning! Check back - more to come.
Day 3, Wednesday. 22 kids in VBS! PTL! We've seen better numbers in years past but we feel God sends those He wants to be there. We had a wonderful rain storm in the afternoon and then went to Unicoi Springs for our evening program. We had about 60-70 people there and God was in the house!
Day 4 - Thursday - Daycamp was great at Mountain Lakes and Unicoi Springs. We did face painting and balloon animals at the Bandshell downtown. Later that evening we did three more drama programs at the Bandshell at 7-8-9 PM. We were "the talk of Helen" as we stirred things up. Someone "reported" us to City Hall because we used a cross in our program. City Hall called GMRM and they told them we had a first amendment right to do that and S.W.A.T. Team wouldn't back down from that.
Day 5 - Friday - Day Camps and River Clean-up. We floated down the Chattahoochee and picked up trash from the river and the river banks. Amazingly the river was pretty clean; the cleanest I've ever seen it! We closed our week with a Family Evening Program Mountain Lakes.
It was a great week. Satan was on the prowl all week but Our God Is Greater! Amen!
